OUTASK TD2 Telescopic Outdoor Light

A versatile camp light that packs down surprisingly small.

The TD2 combines a powerful camp light, telescopic stand and tripod into one compact package. Packed down, it’s around 28 cm long. Open the tripod and extend the pole and you have a freestanding light almost a metre tall — without bringing a separate stand or finding somewhere to hang a lantern.

And because everything is built into one compact unit, it's easy to pick up and take the light wherever you need it. Move it from the table to the camp kitchen, over to the tent or out to the car in seconds.

The adjustable height is useful for another reason: you can keep the light below eye level. Raise it enough to spread light across the table or cooking area without having a bright lantern shining directly into everyone's eyes. It's a small detail that makes a big difference around camp.

The all-metal construction is immediately noticeable. There's a satisfying weight and solidity to the TD2 that makes it feel substantial in the hand. At around 795 g, it isn't an ultralight lantern, but that isn't really what it's trying to be. It feels like a well-made piece of outdoor equipment.

With up to 1,500 lumens and both spot and flood lighting, there's plenty of output when you need it. Brightness and colour temperature are adjustable, so you can go from warm, comfortable light around the table to brighter task lighting for cooking or setting up camp.

The light head can be aimed where you need it, and the magnetic mount gives you another useful way to position it around a vehicle or campsite.

It's also made to handle wet weather. The light and telescopic pole are IPX7 rated, while the main body is IPX6 rated. In everyday terms, you don't need to worry about leaving it out in the rain. The upper section can even withstand temporary immersion in water.

You can also run it on two compatible 21700 rechargeable batteries, giving you an easy way to carry backup power on longer trips.
